Worth it to see the 60 seconds highlights package of the U14 Boys race at the end of the broadcast. Joe Kiely from the Welwyn Wheelers won. He bunny hopped the hurdles then fell off. And on the last lap, the two leaders come off on an off-camber section and he zips past to win. Absolutely brilliant!Neil wrote:Two and a half hours of 'live' Traws Seiclo from the Abergavenny trophy on S4C player now.

Thanks everyone for all your support!
I've had a great couple of days with the GB team.
Yesterday, after we had arrived and booked in to our hotel, we rode the course at Pontchateau. It was really tough, with 2 sets of steps, lots of tight corners up and down banks, a climb followed immediately by double hurdles, and a really steep descent straight into a turn. Fortunately the GB team were really supportive, and I was led round separately by first the Wymans, then Chris Young. This was fantastic as I learnt loads about line choice, body positioning and general cross tactics from real experts!
After a restful night in the Campanile in Nantes, with a very cyclist friendly dinner of boiled pasta (tres gourmet), race day arrived- but only for Ffion and I, as the boys race on Sunday. We got to the course and had another few laps, with some last adjustments of our bikes, then it was just a case of waiting for 2 o'clock. I did a roller warm up, then went to be gridded. I was on the final row, and had a fairly rubbish start, so had to just get on with my own race and hope the rest of them came back... A tactic that usually works well in the Eastern League, but unfortunately did not today! I finished last, but I was really happy with my race and feel that I'm coming away with lots to work on and think about. It has been a fantastic experience to be with the team, which has definitely inspired me to keep pushing myself. Massive thanks to all the coaches, (Welwyn's training really is top notch) as well as my parents for schlepping all the way to Brittany for a 40 minute race- definitely couldn't have done it without their support.

Urgh. Helen Wyman broke her collarbone at the Euro Champs. Sounds like she's expecting to be out a while.

Re: Veldrijden corner
Woah, a great day out at the Koppenbergcross on Tuesday. Up early for an 8am departure from Folkestone, we were at Noel's Bier Farm in Poperinge by 10.30 and by noon parked up in Melden for a long trek through a farmer's field to the Koppenberg! No matter, we were rewarded with sunny skies, fresh frites and, for the non drivers, a constant supply of Primus Lager all afternoon. As is frequently the case, the women did the most exciting racing. The race long battle between Jolien Verschueren and Thalita de Jong was amazing and matched by the atmosphere of the crowd which isn't always the case in Belgium for the women's race. Good to see people supporting De Jong even though she was racing a local!
Wout Van Aert absolutely murdered the men's field winning by about a minute with arch rival MvdP almost four minutes back down the Koppenberg. He really didn't have a great time but at least he kept going.
Super fun day out and back home in time for supper!
Roll on Gent 6 and Koksijde for more of the same

Terrific. The last lap where MvdP and WVA go shoulder to shoulder was brilliant. Sunday at Namur was just as good, totally action packed!Benjamin Knowles wrote:What a race! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RCIYMpo_SMM

Re: Veldrijden corner
Indeed!
The women's (womens') race was also very exciting where Cant ground down the lone leader on the very last lap and caught up to her in the last 200 meters in fact, just before the finishing straight. I'll let you guys watch the video to see what happened then...

Can't find a link in YouTube to the women's scheldecross? Would like to see that late attack.
