Re: Worlds
Steven,
I'm actually surprised you don't have a VPN already, with all the Sporza CX coverage on offer. Must be one of those things that's done but not discussed.
Anyway, LMNH are showing both U23 and elite men tomorrow. I'm planning on going down for the latter at 13:00.

Mostly, you don't need it. But, being stupid, I didn't even know what it was until Chris explained in short words.
In principle, I'm up for LMNH tomorrow.

Will Gascoyne is from the Matlock Mafia.
I quite enjoyed the Polish ads. They just went on a bit. Certainly not going to pay to avoid them.
Proper snowing now.

Re: Worlds
I didn't enjoy Sanne Cant's rant. She needs to grow up. A race is a race.
Also, I like iconoclastic style and last year Svenness was all about tops vs drops sprinting. It got on my tits. Now Ferrand-Prevot has put that to bed.
Last year, Svenness was also all about "the sprint in a cross race is at the beginning". This season has also put that to bed.
Variety is good. When's the last time France did anything on 2 wheels?

Re: Worlds
You obviously didn't watch the women's race of the road world champs last year? And Ferrand-Prevot sprinted in the drops when she won that race.LeonardDelicaet wrote: Variety is good. When's the last time France did anything on 2 wheels?
I'm not a fan of Ferrand-Prevot: Together with another one of Vos's team mates she repeatedly tried to "block" Mara Abbot (i.e. dangerously ride in front of her and push her to the edge of the road) in the Giro Rosa last year.
I enjoyed watching the women's race yesterday (on Polish TV without sound - the alternative would have been with sound but without picture). Nikki Harris looked physically stronger than Vos, but lost too much ground going round the tight corners. A bit of a shame that the Czech rider crashed towards the end.

Re: Worlds
I was thinking before F-P, back to Luc Leblanc in '94. Then he joined le Groupement. Then 2-speed cycling started with the implication being the French were stuck in Neutral and Lance et al were in 6th.
I like F-P b/c she is more cut throat than we're used to see. This is good. Vos is ruthless but people are used to that from her.
Sven didn't moan when Stybar came back to win the worlds and only ride 1 or 2 races in the jersey. Harris should be more peeved with 4th b/c she was close and Vos almost didn't ride.
Hoping Murray can mount a comeback here but I'm not too hopeful - Aussie Open -> CX Worlds -> Superbowl. I don't think I'll get off the couch all day!

Was this her "rant"? If so, I have sympathy for her view. Not to detract from the efforts of Vos, PFP, etc but the Euro CX season starts somewhere like Ronse in September, not Namur in December. Obviously, it would be difficult (read impossible) for the road riders to race a full CX season, I accept that. But if the sport is to grow then it would be helpful to see the rainbow bands a bit more often whether it be in Europe (Belgium) or the US.
PFP rode a great race so chapeau to her. But I was cheering madly for Sanne and disappointed she didn't take the win.
Aside from Astrid's point, I realise the Tour de France is little more than a glorified sportive but, in fairness, the French did bag 2nd and 3rd last yearLeonardDelicaet wrote:

Re: Worlds
I'm still not sure if it was Ferrand Prevot or Julie Bresset who emptied her nose at me on a pre-olympic training day when I was marshalling at Hadleigh Farm, but I'm still annoyed with both of them just in case. I gave a cheery, "bonjour et bon chance" & got a nostril full in return.
So I'm siding with Sanne Cant here. Still, there's always next year, she's strong as an ox!

Re: Worlds
One company that didn't have a good Worlds was Sram. I'll admit I'm a bit of a Sram fan-boy but 2 dropped chains directly impacting 2 podiums is not good (Hecht and Van Aert).

Re: Worlds
Just catching up with this and watching the racing on the UCI you tube channel, highly recommended, it's only an hour long and so entertaining! So so so cold! Brilliant.

A Mr Nys has apparently been on the London League Facebook page complaining can't get rider HQ to work

Re: Worlds
Lot of sympathy with Sanne Cant have nothing against Vos but is bad for an already marginalised sport if world champion only competes twice a year another roads world champ winning presumably not to ride again till next January just makes sport look ancillary
