Chris I will come along Saturday for 9am - sorry I cannot help on Friday.
Any idea roughly what time we will be needed until (for domestic planning purposes)?

If anyone is riding over Saturday morning from North/Central London let me know and I will meet up with you.

Thanks Alex. Should be done by 3:30-3:45. Eastern league run a tight ship.

I'm intending to ride up. Hangover* dependent this might be on the MTB straight across Epping and out the other side - it hurts less to fall in a bush.

*RWC starts on Friday night.

Sorry Chris, my new employers want me to start this Wednesday and so it looks like I won't be able to assist with this. Hope you get it sorted.

Right people, I've randomly assigned jobs - you can horse-trade all positions if you wish, but a starting point is good. Massive thanks to all those giving up their time - there will be a special place reserved for you in Belgium.

Friday - one last call out in case anyone is available...

Saturday:
  • Front of house
    • Stuart
      Michelle S
  • Sign on
    • Ben K
  • Lap scoring
    • Astrid
      Andy A
      John J
  • Marshals
    • Stan
      Karl
Michelle F (maybe head for a post where you can watch people jumping on ;-) )
      Alex T
      Pat
Sunday:
  • Front of house
    • Steven
      John J
  • Sign on
    • Aoife
  • Lap scoring
    • Nancy
      Max
  • Marshals
    • Daniel W
      Andrew N (dispensing advice)
      Paul W
      Damian
      Jack C
For sign on and marshalling we need to be ready at 9am - I shall try and provide a stirring motivational speech for the marshals at 9:15. For people doing the lap scoring, on Saturday the races start at 10am so we really need to be ready about 15mins before that.

On Sunday we host the London league - the start times are 30 mins later - I'd love to suggest we all get a half hour extra in bed, but the reality is that it's a bit more ad-hoc than the Eastern league. At the time of writing we have only 61 entries. I have no reason to believe there will be any less entries than the Eastern league (currently standing at 170+), so there will be queues and tantrums. We need to be able to cope with that ;-)

For all those helping out, food will be provided and there will be a tab at the cafe for hot/cold drinks. For those marshalling, feel free to bring camping chairs etc, and figure out rotating marshal posts between races if you wish.

If anyone else wants to join in the fun, all are welcome, we can find something for you to do. Final duty of marshals is of course to offer encouragement to all of our members who are racing - best of luck to all.

Thanks
Chris

ps we are free to use the course on Saturday after the racing if anyone wants a practice session

Would you recommend cycling over - just wondering how advisable it would be to leave a road bike all day while marshaling in the fields...
Is there anywhere safe to leave them? If not I will try and borrow a lock from a friend and lock to the railings.

If anyone driving can bring a spare camping chair I will get them a drink ...

Bike and a lock is easiest, but if you're marshalling out in the boonies there's nobody around to nick it anyway.

A good point Alex , I think I'll MTB over so I can ride to my marshalling point, loaded with a rucksack full of coffee and cake. :)

Right, the course is now built after a sterling effort from Jason, Russ and Steven.

See you all at 9 in the morning.
