Cyclocross Weekend Volunteers Required - 19/20 September

Post by Chris Clague » Fri Sep 11, 2015 10:09 am

First of all, a massive thanks to all those who have volunteered to help out.
I'm now trying to sort out roles.

For each day we require 1 person for signon, and 2 people for calling/writing down the numbers (not a technical job, even I've done it a few times). Everyone else gets hi-viz and a walkie talkies and gets to play in the field.

Any volunteers for the above roles?

On the day you're volunteering, please could you aim to be at hog hill by 9am. The last race should finish soon after 3pm, and on Sunday we will need to take down the course afterwards.

I will email people separately about Friday course build, but for Sat/Sun my list looks like this:

Saturday:
Stan
Stuart
Astrid
Karl
Andy A
Michelle S
Michelle F
Ben K
Me

Sunday:
Daniel W
Steven
John J
Andrew N
Paul W
Damian
Aoife
Jack C
Nancy
Max

Racing Sat:
Steven
Andrew N (marshals please note that Andrew finds it helpful to receive sage words of advice when passing)
John J
Aoife?
Damian?

Racing Sunday:
Astrid

Handing out safety pins, shouting out numbers, wearing hi-viz, it all sounds so exciting and I can't make up my mind. Please put me down for whatever is easiest for you.

Stan, if I can answer, it depends on whether you mean U10, U12 or youth (or even junior):

Saturday - http://www.easterncross.org.uk/race15-16-3.htm

Sunday - http://www.londonxleague.co.uk/2015/07/ ... n-20-sept/

It'll be U10 (he's 6.5), thanks for that.

I am now available for help on Saturday 19th if needed.

Everything I know about this I have learnt from watching that 1960 video from Northumberland.

Let's hope you're not disappointed watching modern-day cyclocross.
Having said this, watching the riders tackle the Hog Hill course Chris designed last winter was quite entertaining too.

Cyclocross Weekend Volunteers Required - 19/20 September

Post by Chris Clague » Sat Sep 12, 2015 5:17 pm

would anybody at all be able to spare some time on Friday? At the moment we have 4 people doing course build which is (to put it mildly) something of a stretch. It would need to be during the day though as I've just found out they start shooting the rabbits at 5pm so we have to be off site.

Alex - we can always use more hands.

this is roughly the course I'm planning - yes I'm slow - and my front brake disc needs sorting out - I couldn't use the tarmac today as there were other riders on it
