Battle on the Beach 2016

Post by Chris Clague » Thu Oct 08, 2015 7:35 pm

This will take place on 20th March with entries opening with the chimes of Big Ben at new year. If you've not done this before, it's a fantastic event with an 8km run up the beach followed by a return through the forest. Did it this year and it was properly spectacular - a must for anyone with an off-road bike of any description. Which is why I'll be double posting to both CX & MTB forums! Should be on your bucket list - ask anyone who's done it before.

I have entered this for some reason , equivalent of Duclos signing for Garmin. No hills , no running , single track ?and huge field of probably irritating people on ugly bikes , what not to dislike.

Assuming will be a file tread or Chicane job

Premier Inn in Cwbran is a good one though

Chicanes, yep. And you can run the 30m of soft sand when you hit the beach - I rode it but that's cos I'm crap at getting on/off but running probably quicker. There was also one climb that most the CX guys ended up running up.

Isn't Cwmbran where we stayed prior to the Nationals at Abergavenny? I sense it might not be a great choice this time?

Hi all,

If anyone needs a lift to this, please give me a shout. I'm planning on driving up on the Saturday lunchtime. It would be a sedate journey in a 30 year old VW transporter, but it has charm and a working kitchen.

Cheers
Matt

I'll be in Belgium. Hoping the seasonal dry spell extends that far.
