This can't be right can it? Yet it's what I see today.
Entries to date. 6 V40's and J, 6 V50's and W's (including me) and not a single senior M. ??

Ha ha. BC seem to be having all kinds of problem with their event entries all season. Eastern league have been having a nightmare with oversold events or people not being able to enter.

Well they sorted the entries out in the end and had good fields in all categories.

I had high hopes after strong league races on the previous two Saturdays, but had by some margin my worst race of the season so far. It felt like I was riding or running through treacle the whole way round. A half decent photo is some small consolation. Others will have a happier tale to tell. Onwards...

There are times when only the saddle can reach that annoying itch between the shoulder blades

I think he's been watching those Pathé News film clips on YouTube. You know, the one where in order to compete at cyclocross, in the 1960s, it seems to have been necessary to attempt to throw your bike across a watercourse and then fall in after it.

Interesting course that created a number of groups that worked more like a very slippery road race. I went off with the big boys but inevitably got slightly gapped by the end of lap 1, crashed on lap 2 on a fast downhill right hander where (I think) I made the mistake of going over a mole hill just before turning in and the dry earth stuck to the tyre. Anyway slid nicely and was back up and running fairly quickly but lost a large portion of the gap I had. Ended up going round in a big group with lots of position changing and no one really wanting to pull everyone else along so it all came down to the 180deg left corner before the run into the finish. I managed to get to it first going round the outside and made a strong blocking move, as I had rear mech away from contact. Steve Mahon had a good go at fencing me and in the ensuing pushing and shoving managed to get through. Unfortunately in the excitement I managed to just catch my bar on a stake at the next corner and the minuscule pause allowed Pat to sneak through too. Lots of fun though and an interestingly strategic race.
