Just a reminder then that Beastway kicks off this Saturday 9th April from 12:00.

We'd really appreciate any LP support, whether you intend to ride - and I'd encourage anybody to have a go it's a real mix of abilities - enter the kids into races, or just want to ride up and see the trade stands and watch the racing to see what MTB at Hog Hill looks like with Tea and Cake - it looks as though it will even be sunny :)

Hopefully I'll see some of you there!

Well, an awesome yet challenging day with some extremely mixed terrain, from gravel singletrack, tight twisty, rutted turns, wet sloppy mud and Woodsy leaves to get stuck to it all. Plenty of running, walking and of course riding.

An excellent turn out for the club, with 5 riders. Even better news, every LP finished top 10 in cat with 2 podiums as follows:

Damien Robertson - 2nd Vet
Rich P - 3rd Sport
Alex C - 5th Vet
Dan McQ - 7th grand vet.
Steve H - 9th Vet

Well done all.

Is Dan really a grand vet now? Well done all - hoping to be there next time.

The berm was cool as long as riders tucked themselves around the tree neatly. Tree remained so all well. Berm may need pushing further out in due course however.

It was a suitably challenging course that should only get faster as the weather improves! Mud pies were a bit annoying and the hour and a half duration was very knackering!

I've got the green light to come to this. I'll be about as competition fit as a wet fish on dry land but at least you can't get dropped in a MTR race!

Firstly, thanks to Chris Claque who despite broken pelvis helped out tonight.

A very slippery Hog Hill, where the ground had obviously dried leaving cracks, ruts and "horses hooves" type surface, which then receive todays rain showers leaving only the top of it wet and slippery as hell! This meant much running and/or walking on the grassy areas, now I know what CX feels like. it took me 45 mins to clear the cack off/out of the bike.

I had a weird race. After a dismal muddy, slippery practise lap whereby I didn't even feel liking starting, I then found my self leading the sprint off the line, then the lap. Thats never happened before and I thought, "WTF do I do now?" I was taking all the defensive lines to keep the other vets behind me as I was pretty sure I couldn't hold the position for long - I could hear the heavy breathing so I assumed I was holding them up, then the front end slipped down a rut about 2k or 3/4 of the way around and that was my moment of glory finished as 4/5 riders passed. It all just seemed hard work after that, with loads of frustrating running & walking around tight rutted slippery corners (should have taken the 26er) and trying to make up the pace on the gravel/flatter sections.

I think there were only about 15 Vets starting so I'm hoping for a top 10...
