Beastway 2016
So the first of the races has been announced on April 9th at Redbridge Cycle Centre. Yep that's right, it's one of two Saturday races in this years series, so hopefully we can get lots of LP attendance from LP gents, ladies and kids representing in the first of a kind for Beastway.
On Saturday March the 19th there is a voluntary trail clearing day - itd be good if we could get a few people to help out clearing the trials. I appreciate this clashes with Battle on the Beach, but any effort would be appreciated.

Re: Beastway 2016
Hadn't realised the clearing day clashed with BOTB - had planned to help out. But nothing gets in the way of BOTB. Speaking of which, I now see it's being sponsored by Assos so I expect to have Stuart and Tam towing me along the beach...

Is our presence required for racing or anything else?Steve Hanks wrote:So the first of the races has been announced on April 9th at Redbridge Cycle Centre. Re: Beastway 2016
Steven although we have volunteered to Marshal at some point within the series, I've not been asked to do so on this day so at this moment in time I'm suggesting we can help showcase the Saturday effort by suggesting that a Saturday is a more convient day for some, and therefore the perfect opportunity to try some racing at a local event and support Beastway via race entry at the same time.

Re: Beastway 2016
I've always wanted Beastway, at least now it's at hog hill, to be on a weekend so it's more accessible, so this is great news. I'll try to make it.
Chris, can't help you at BOTB I'm afraid. Will be flying the Assos flag at the Ename Classic that weekend as a cheeky warmup for the RVV.

Beastway 2016
Thought that might change when I pointed out the date clash to Russ on Sunday and he realised he was doing BOTB too
Shame the new date clashes with RVV...

Re: Beastway 2016
Its with pleasure that I can announce today that LP has become a sponser for Beastway 2016. You will see our logo on promotional material very shortly. I'm really pleased that the club agreed to support Beastway this year, something that I believe as a London club is very important to ensure that London's very own grass roots MTB series continues.
We will be marshalling one evening event.
With that in mind here are the 2016 series dates, now confirmed. Note the two Saturdays to help those that find Wednesday nights difficult to attend. Both Saturdays will be "Beastway +" with trade stalls, BBQ's and more of an all day theme, the latter also containing the series prize giving:
Saturday 9th April
Wednesday 18th May
Wednesday 25th May
Wednesaday 1st June
Wednesday 8th June
Wednesday 15th June
Wednesday 22nd June
Wednesday 29th June
Saturday 2nd July
I'm hoping to see some of the ladies and "newer" MTBer's that are attending on the 28th of Feb coming and giving Beastway a go!!

Re: Beastway 2016
Good, this will give the club good exposure. And ironically enough one of the main reasons I joined the club 10 years ago was because of the big LP contingent every Wednesday at Beastway.
I still have an issue with Hog Hill (which the Saturday races do go some way to alleviate) and to describe Ilford as offering London grass roots racing does take a leap of faith somewhat, but I guess we have to make the most of what we have. Do we as a club offer anything else as sponsor apart from marshalling, which we would be doing anyway?

Beastway 2016
There's an element of co-support. HGT contributed towards our costs for the CX races we put on.
Stan - the question was only directed as I'd like to race some of these but view the one we help out at as the higher priority.
And my issues with HH run deeper than Stuart's

Re: Beastway 2016
At this point I'm just pleased to take part in helping out somewhat. It's not our event, my interest lies in ensuring Beastway continues to exist as a local London event and I do my bit by flying the LP flag by way of treating myself to near heart failure 8 times a year.
For me it's an advert for Beastway and MTB in general. We are seeing the clubs Mtb interest grow which is fantastic, and once again we have a local series within which to fly our colours, and who knows, attract new members.
We remain receptive to requests for support, and there are also other clubs being asked to contribute.
Chris - I'd prefer Russ to ask me for the event he'd like us to marshal, it's not for me to dictate. I take it your bring your own cake then
